The Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray manga, written by Taiyo Kuzumi and based on Cygames' hit Uma Musume: Pretty Derby franchise, has announced a temporary hiatus before kicking off its final arc. As revealed by the 27th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine, the manga's return is scheduled for July 17 (UTC+2).

The announcement also confirmed that, during this break, two unpublished side stories will be published, arriving on June 19 and July 3 respectively. In addition, with this edition, the fourth story arc, entitled "The Grey-Haired Monster", has officially concluded.

A story starring Oguri Cap

Since her debut in June 2020, Cinderella Gray has followed the story of Oguri Cap, one of the most popular horse girls in the Uma Musume universe. Throughout its chapters, the manga has offered a more serious and dramatic approach compared to other installments in the franchise, thus gaining a solid readership.

Shueisha is scheduled to release the manga's 20th compilation volume on Wednesday, June 19, further cementing its position as one of the most prominent titles within Weekly Young Jump magazine.

A franchise in full expansion

The universe of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby continues to grow. Currently, an anime adaptation of Cinderella Gray, which premiered on April 6, is being broadcast. This new series can be seen on Amazon Prime Video and on the official It's Anime YouTube channel, available in countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, as well as in Europe, the Middle East and New Zealand.

The franchise also features three previous seasons of the main anime, the Road to the Top project, the Umayon spin-off, and most recently, the Uma Musume film Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era, which premiered in Japan in May 2024.

A combination of racing and spectacle

The original video game in the franchise, released in February 2021 for iOS and Android, and on PC via DMM Games in March of the same year, remains a central pillar. Its premise revolves around the Uma Musume – girls with exceptional running skills – who aspire to become idols of the tracks in the great national spectacle Twinkle Series.

The player takes on the role of coach and mentor within the Nihon Uma Musume Training Center Gakuen, helping these young runners reach their full potential and debut in the elite of Japanese sports entertainment.

With the end of the manga already on the horizon, the followers of Oguri Cap and company are preparing to live the last stage of this exciting race.
