An empty
stomach hurts far more than a broken heart, even if in your past life you were
the absolute leader of the dark forces. This Thursday, Futabasha's Gaugau
Monster platform released a delicious update for rom-com lovers:
the popular story Dinners with My Darling (Aisanai to
Iwaremashite mo: Moto Mao no Hakushaku Reijo wa Kimajime Gunjin ni Edzuke o
Sarete Shiawase ni Naru) will receive its own animated adaptation. A
crucial detail of this announcement is that the project will specifically adapt
the version of the manga illustrated by Toi Ishino,
instead of taking as a direct basis the original novel written by Mugi Mameta.
As is often
the case in these early stages of production, the committee has kept the names
of the seiyuus, the animation studio in charge, and the possible
premiere window for the series under wraps. This publicity move is no
coincidence, as it coincides perfectly with the imminent release of the seventh
compilation volume, both of the manga and the original novel, which are
scheduled to go on sale this coming May 7 in the Japanese market. For now, fans
of this heartwarming read can celebrate that Abigail's story will make the leap
to television.
Dinners
with My Darling Details
The plot
introduces us to Abigail, a young noblewoman who has endured a lifetime of
abuse by her own family, hiding the little secret that in her previous life she
was a Demon King himself. To escape her personal hell, she agrees to a marriage
of convenience with an extremely serious and stoic soldier. However, on their
wedding night, her new husband drops an emotional bombshell: "I'm not in
love with you." Far from suffering from wounded pride, Abigail panics for
a much more earthly and urgent reason: she has no idea what will happen to her
meals from now on.
What starts
as a simple concern for the pantry quickly becomes an endearing journey of
personal healing. Abigail begins to discover true happiness through the
delicious dishes she shares with her husband, especially in the intimate
moments where he feeds her directly in her mouth. This franchise swaps the
typical epic battles of the isekai for very warm domestic
moments, slowly building trust between two lonely souls.
