Going from being a self-published independent
project to achieving a commercial animated production is the true dream of any
creator. That epic transition is just what Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi (The
Fake Alchemist) has just achieved, a work that has just officially
confirmed that it will have its own anime adaptation by a well-known studio in
the field of fantasy. The official announcement was accompanied by a
promotional video and a first visual image that commemorate the evolution of
the project.
The studio chosen to be in charge of the
animation is Passione, a production house with a lot of experience
in stories of fantastic worlds. The video shared is quite particular, since
instead of showing finished scenes, it takes us on a journey that begins with
the initial rough sketches of writer Jiro Sugiura, then goes
through the transition to the manga illustrated by Umemaru, until
finally reaching the visual development within the studio, highlighting in
detail the evolution of the charismatic Nora.
In the face of this enormous achievement, the
authors did not hide their emotion. Jiro Sugiura admitted to being completely
surprised that the day came when his story would be turned into an anime,
attributing all the credit to the people who have consistently supported them.
For his part, Umemaru expressed deep gratitude to Sugiura, those involved and
the readers, mentioning how happy it makes him to see that a work he is so fond
of receives a new life thanks to such a talented work team, assuring that he
will wait for the premiere as one more fan.
About Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi
The story immerses us in the city-state of
Orichalconia, a territory where alchemy and magical arts are fully integrated
into the daily lives of its inhabitants. In this scenario we follow in the
footsteps of Paracelsus, a reincarnated man who earns a living quietly and
discreetly in his own alchemical workshop, hiding an extremely broken power
that breaks the rules of that world. However, his quiet routine changes
suddenly after he finalizes a contract with Nora, a slave who masters the magic
of curses, and meets Coco, an elf who was deprived of her limbs and all her
sensory abilities.
Motivated to change Coco's fate, Paracelsus
begins what seems like a modest rescue mission within the four walls of his
workshop. However, events begin to spiral out of control quickly, escalating
into a massive large-scale conflict that will end up involving not only the use
of advanced alchemy and curse magic, but also the order of the cosmos and the
direct intervention of the gods themselves. The work originally began its
journey by gaining public recognition independently before making the leap to
its commercial edition, which already exceeds one million copies in circulation.
Seeing how projects that start independently
manage to exceed one million copies and secure an anime is always an inspiring
milestone.
