Lovers of romantic comedies with twisted
premises already have something new to add to their list. The production
committee behind the franchise has just officially announced that
the original manga Kizuguchi to Hotai (Wound and Bandage)
will make the big leap to television with its own animated adaptation.
The person in charge of bringing this peculiar project to life will be the
renowned studio J.C. Staff, who confirmed that the series will land
on the small screen during the January 2027 season,
accompanying the excellent news with a couple of curious visual arts.
Far from being the typical and dark story of
gangsters, the narrative introduces us to Riyo Washizu, the daughter of the
leader of the yakuza organization that controls the entire Kanto region. To
take care of her, the group assigns Go Kiritani, a young and lethal subordinate
who assumes that his job will simply be to be the babysitter of a docile girl.
However, she quickly discovers that her protégé hides a dark and twisted
fetish: she is fascinated by seeing extremely strong and rude people when they
are in their weakest and most vulnerable state. This strange dynamic was born
from the pen of Umihoshi Nanai, who began serializing the work in
Kodansha's Comic Days app only in August 2024
An expert team in crime comedies
To ensure that this strange chemistry works on
screen, the studio assigned the director's chair to Miyuki Ishida.
The scripts are in excellent hands under the supervision of Susumu
Yamakawa, who already proved to be an expert in mixing humor and yakuza after
being in charge of writing for the three seasons of The Way of the
Househusband. Finally, the character designs will be
carried out by Natsuki Oyama. This solid technical team was
responsible for revealing the first two conceptual images of the project: one
showing the normal side of the protagonists and another highlighting the more
submissive side of the lethal mobster to illustrate the central concept of the
series.
Considering that the J.C. Staff studio tends to
be saturated with productions every year
