The
official website for the anime adaptation of Motoo Nakanishi ’s
“ Sword of the Demon Hunter ( Kijin Gentoushou )”
novels has revealed the project’s first promotional video. The video confirms
that the premiere is scheduled for March 31 in Japan , and
features a snippet of the ending theme song, “ Sen-ya Ichi-ya feat.
Izumi Nakasone (HY )” performed by Hilchryme .
According
to the release, the anime will debut with a one-hour special (including the length of TV
commercials) and will air in two consecutive cours (six months of
broadcasting). In addition, the premiere was scheduled for the
Summer-2024 period (July-September), but was delayed due to production issues.
Motoo
Nakanishi began
publishing the novels through Futabasha in Japan in June 2019, and finished
publishing them in November 2023 with a total of fourteen volumes. The manga
adaptation is by Yuu Satomi ( Kekkai no Noah,
Mushihime, Yakedo Shoujo ) and has been published since September
2021.
Synopsis
of Sword of the Demon Hunter
In the
Edo period, there was a shrine maiden named “Itsukihime” in the mountain
village of Kadono. Jinta, a young man who acts as the shrine maiden’s guardian
despite being an outsider, encounters a mysterious demon who speaks of the
distant future in the forest he went to defeat. Spanning Edo to the Heisei era,
this massive Japanese fantasy series follows a demon man who travels through
time while continually questioning the meaning of wielding a sword.
