The announcement of the second season of “ Bocchi
the Rock! ” surprised many today, but in a recent statement, producer
Shouta Umehara shared his thoughts on how the continuation of the series came
about , revealing that there were no plans for this continuation.
“ We didn’t really have any plans for a second
season, but the constant support from all of you, who have been following and
supporting the series, pushed us to keep going. I also have to thank the
members of Kessoku Band and everyone at Aniplex and other collaborators who
have been wonderful people. This made me feel that I should commit myself once
again and do my best ,” Umehara expressed gratefully.
The producer also took the opportunity to talk about the
team behind the series, in particular about the moments he experienced during
the process. He recalled that, at a celebration party for the premiere
of the compilation films, the director and other members of the production team
seemed disinterested in the future of the franchise , which led him to
wonder if he should really continue to devote himself to “Bocchi the Rock!”.
« At the time, editor Takuya Sekoguchi was so
drunk he fell asleep, and there was a joke about whether we would continue the
story with another studio. That made me doubt whether I should really bet my
life on this project ,» Umehara added in a humorous tone.
Despite the challenges, “Bocchi the Rock!” will finally have a second season now under the direction of Yusuke Yamamoto (who worked as assistant director and directed some episodes of the first season), replacing Keiichiro Saito. The producer concluded his message with a thank you to the fans and the team, assuring that, thanks to them, the second season is becoming a reality. “ Thank you all for your support, this is for you! ”
Synopsis of Bocchi the Rock!
Hitori “Bocchi” Gotou, a loner and eager to socialize,
spends her time playing guitar. One fateful day, Bocchi meets outgoing drummer
Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join the Kessoku Band when their guitarist,
Ikuyo Kita, runs away before their first concert. Soon after, Bocchi meets her
latest bandmate, the brilliant bassist Ryou Yamada.
Though their first performance together is lackluster,
the girls are strengthened by their shared love of music, and are soon joined
again by Kita. Finding joy in performing, Bocchi and her fellow students put
their best effort into improving as musicians while making the most of their
fleeting high school days.
