According to the official description, Mokotaro is a popular character from the streaming show Mokotaro Eat Meal, who travels all over Japan in search of the most delicious dishes. His passion for food and charming demeanor have made him a beloved figure within the series' fictional universe.

Mokotaro is voiced by Azuki Moeno, a former member of the idol group Erabareshi and known for her participation in cooking competitions. Her experience in the world of food and entertainment promises to bring this endearing character to life in a unique way.

A production with a seal of quality

Food for the Soul features an original story and character designs created by Atto, author of Non Non Biyori. Shinya Kawatsura and Toru Shunsui are in charge of directing, with the support of PAWORKS, a studio known for its work on high-quality visual and narrative series.

The creative team also includes Yoshihiro Hiki (Akiba Maid War) as series composer, Hajime Mitsuda (Akiba's Trip) as animation designer, and Hitomi Mizutani (Non Non Biyori) as music composer. The opening theme song, "Sonna Mon ne," is performed by Asmi, while the ending song is "Miso Soup and Butter" by Reira Ushio.

What is Food for the Soul about?

The series follows the story of Mako, a first-year college student who is living alone for the first time. Although she is very shy about eating out, she finds solace in cooking gourmet dishes in her small kitchen. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she joins a culinary club, where she begins to enjoy the company of new friends and the power of sharing food.

Food for the Soul premiered on April 12 in Japan, and Crunchyroll streams the series internationally—except in Japan, China, Korea, and Mongolia—with subtitles and dubbing available to subscribers.
