This year's
28th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, published on Monday, June 3, marked the end
of Shun Numa's Super Psychic Policeman Chojo (Chōjun! Chōjō Senpai) manga. The
series, which debuted in one-shot format in April 2023, began serialization in
February 2024, and is now ending after a short but intense run.
The story
introduces us to Meguru Chojo, a psychic police officer with supernatural
abilities working in the city of Chinjuku, accompanied by his judo expert
partner, Nao Ippongi. Together, this eccentric duo fights crime with
unconventional methods and a lot of humor.
The
chapters were available simultaneously on VIZ Media and MANGA Plus, platforms
that began publishing the series upon its premiere. VIZ also confirmed that the
manga's first physical volume will arrive in spring 2026. The sixth compiled
book volume will go on sale in Japan on July 4, while volumes seven and eight
(the final volume) will be released on September 4.
Four New
Manga on the Way
The closure
of Chojo paves the way for a new wave of releases in Weekly Shonen Jump,
starting with Harukaze Mound, a baseball story starring twin brothers. This new
work, created by the Phantom Seer duo of Tōgo Gotō (script) and Kento Matsūra
(art), will debut in the magazine on Sunday, June 16. The manga already had a
previous one-shot in 2022 and promises to combine brotherly drama with sports
excitement.
In
addition, the magazine announced three more releases for the coming weeks:
- Jun Harukawa's Kaedegami will be published on Sunday, June 23.
- Ekiden Bros. by Daiki Nono will arrive on Sunday, June 30.
- Ping Pong by Yoshiharu Kataoka will premiere on Sunday, July 7.
With these
additions, Shonen Jump is looking to refresh its catalog and embrace new themes
ranging from sports to the supernatural. Which of these new titles will capture
readers' attention?
