This year's 29th edition of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine published on Monday the final chapter of the manga Syd Craft: Love Is a Mystery (Syd Craft no Saishū Suiri), the most recent work by renowned mangaka Taishi Tsutsui, creator of We Never Learn.

The story follows the popular detective Syd Craft, famous for solving the most complicated cases. However, neither his intelligence nor his fame have prepared him for his greatest challenge: love. An approach that mixes mystery, humor and romance in a brief but intense emotional journey.

A short but intense publication

The work was originally released on November 18, 2023, and after just over seven months, it has reached its conclusion. Shueisha published the first compilation volume on April 4, followed by the second on June 4. The third volume will be released on August 4 and will include a special episode, while the fourth and final volume will hit shelves on September 4.

Readers around the world have been able to follow the story simultaneously thanks to the Viz Media and MANGA Plus platforms, which offered official English translations from the day it was published in Japan.

Taishi Tsutsui's legacy

Taishi Tsutsui became known worldwide for his work We Never Learn (Boku-tachi wa Benkyō ga Dekinai), published between February 2017 and December 2020. The manga had 21 compilation volumes, and its success led to the production of an anime adaptation with two seasons of 13 episodes each, airing in April and October 2019, respectively.

The anime was licensed by Aniplex of America under the name We Never Learn: BOKUBEN and streamed through HuluCrunchyroll, and FunimationNow. In addition, the series featured two OVAs, released alongside volumes 14 and 16 of the manga, in November 2019 and April 2020.

With Syd Craft: Love Is a Mystery, Tsutsui once again demonstrated his ability to combine genres with sensitivity and charisma. Although his new story was brief, it has left a mark on his followers, who are already eagerly awaiting what the author's next project will be.
