A tradition celebrating animation globally

This annual festival, which emerged as an independent evolution of the Tokyo Anime Award held between 2002 and 2013, has been organized since 2014 by the TAAF Executive Committee, together with the Japan Animation Association and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

The 2026 edition will mark the 13th anniversary of the event in its current format. Its goal remains clear: to foster new talent, promote animation culture and industry, and boost tourism in Tokyo, all under the motto: “TOKYO is the HUB of contemporary ANIMATION.”

Along with the announcement of dates, it was confirmed that the competitive section of TAAF2026 is now open for submissions. Submissions must have been completed by January 1, 2024, and can be submitted by creators of any nationality, both professional and amateur.
