After more
than a decade as one of the most popular isekai franchises, That Time I
Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken)
has an end date. The publisher Micro Magazine, through its imprint
GC Novels, announced that the story written by Fuse and
illustrated by Mitz Vah will conclude with volume 23,
which will be published in Japan on November 29, 2025. The
publisher also presented the official cover of the volume.
An
ending accompanied by a spinoff
That same
day, GC Novels will release Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Toaru
Kyuuka no Sugoshi-kata (How to Spend a Certain Vacation), a
side story that will serve as a complement for fans. The work will have its own
cover with illustrations by Mitz Vah.
More
than 10 years of history
The Slime
Isekai saga began in 2013 as a serialization on the Shousetsuka
ni Narou website, accumulating more than 400 million reads.
A year later, Micro Magazine began its publication in physical
format, consolidating the series as one of the benchmarks of the isekai genre.
In English, the novels are published by Yen Press.
A
phenomenon in and out of anime
The
franchise not only shone in bookstores: in 2018 it made the leap to anime with
the adaptation of Taiki Kawakami's manga. Since then, it has had several
successful seasons, the most recent being the third, broadcast in 2024 for two
consecutive cours. In addition, a fourth season in production is
already confirmed.
With the
announcement of the final volume, Fuse's work joins the list of great isekai
sagas that conclude their journey, leaving behind a huge fan base and a legacy
that will live on through its multiple adaptations.
