The gem of Weekly Shonen Jump takes
a breather. The magazine's editorial team announced that Takeru
Hokazono's Kagurabachi manga will go on temporary hiatus
starting with issue 31, scheduled for June 29. The return is
scheduled for August, and the decision comes from the dialogue
between the author and the editorial team itself.
The statement was clear about this: although
Hokazono wanted to continue uninterrupted, the conversation between author and
publisher concluded that a short break now will allow for more stable and
consistent serialization in the long term. It is not a forced pause for an
emergency, like the one in May, when a sudden health problem of the author
postponed a chapter by a week. This is a preventative decision,
made before the situation comes to a head, which makes a major difference in
how it is handled.
The publisher used the announcement to thank
readers for their continued support and to ask them to maintain that support
during the pause period. The hiatus is shaping up to be relatively short, with
a couple of months between the last chapter before the hiatus and the expected
return in August.
