Just when
you thought the exorcist genre had already shown it all in Shonen Jump, along
comes a manga where ghosts are not only expelled, but eaten whole! The
supernatural comedy Phantom Busters (Fantomu Basutazu)
inaugurated its official website to announce that it will have its own
television adaptation, which was scheduled to premiere in 2027.
To
celebrate the news, author and illustrator Neoshoco shared a
commemorative illustration and expressed his enormous excitement to see his
characters come to life. The creator dedicated a message of thanks to readers
for making this project possible, highlighting that the dynamic and fun tone of
the story will shine even brighter when the protagonists begin to move and do
their thing on screen.
The story
follows in the footsteps of Eugene Korekishi, a student with perfect grades who
doesn't believe in ghosts at all, and his partner Mogari Shishikuno, a unique
exorcist capable of devouring ghosts in a single bite. Although Mogari cannot
see the spirits himself, the dynamic between the two changes when they cross
paths with someone who possesses spiritual vision. Together they decide to
found an exorcism club in high school to start a school life quite far from the
ordinary, soon adding Kaoru Kanzaki and trying to recruit Kotaro Tamon, a boy
who talks to ghosts but struggles to communicate with living human beings.

illustrated by Neoshoco, the manga began publication in the pages of Shueisha's
Jump SQ. magazine in 2023. The work has achieved steady growth in the
Japanese market, accumulating more than 1.4 million copies in circulation
between its print and digital volumes. The publisher launched the seventh
compilation volume on February 4 and will put the eighth volume on sale on
October 2.
