Great
news for "Wandance" fans! Coffee's manga is getting an anime
adaptation, and we already have some exciting news! According to a
recent release, the anime will premiere in October 2025 in Japan, and the first
teaser visual has just been revealed! In this image, we can see Wanda
(played by Hina Yomiya) dancing against a cool blue background, with a scene
that perfectly captures the energy and power of her dance, which mesmerizes the
protagonist Kaboku Kotani (played by Kouki Uchiyama).
And there's
more! Production will be handled by Madhouse Studios in collaboration
with Cyclone Graphics, and as previously mentioned, RIEHATA, famous for her
work with BTS, EXILE, and other groups, will be in charge of the choreography
and music. Additionally, the director will be Michiya Kato, who told
us that the anime will feature motion capture, a technique that promises to
make the dance sequences impressive.
- « When I was approached
about adapting Wandance into an anime, I wondered if it would really be
possible to express street dance in an anime... The more I learned about
the dance, the harder it was to decide. Then, I came up with an idea: What
kind of anime would it be if the dancers themselves could draw the dance?
And now, we're shooting motion capture. Every time I see the intense
dances of top dancers, I feel the magnitude of the Wandance manga even
more. They were, once upon a time, Kaboku and Wanda. There's no way there
isn't passion in the dance. Please look forward to it! »
The
story follows Kaboku Kotani, a young man with a stutter who struggles to
express himself, but is drawn to the powerful dance style of Wanda Hikari, a
classmate who, despite having no formal training, has an innate talent for
dance. The
series promises to be a moving tale of self-discovery and personal growth
through dance, something that has captivated both audiences and the actors
themselves. We can't wait to see how this adaptation will turn out!
