The
official website of the anime "My Status as an Assassin Obviously
Exceeds the Hero's" has revealed its first main trailer,
generating great expectation among fans of the isekai genre. This animated
adaptation of the light novel series written by Matsuri Akai and
illustrated by Tozai is scheduled to premiere in Japan
in October 2025.
The
promotional video includes for the first time the opening track titled "Issen" ("Flash"),
performed by the Japanese virtual duo VESPERBELL, consisting
of YOMI and KASUKA. This marks his official debut
in the anime world.
Meeting
VESPERBELL: A new musical promise
VESPERBELL
was formed in June 2020 and debuted professionally under Warner
Music Japan on July 24, 2024. The duo is known for fusing
powerful vocal performances (YOMI) with pop tones (KASUKA), and have managed to
gather more than 270,000 subscribers on YouTube, performing covers
of J-POP, rock, anime, and original tracks.
YOMI
expressed her excitement, "Thank you for allowing us to perform the
opening theme! It is a work that I adore, both for its title and for its world.
I was very nervous when recording, but now I really want to hear it through
anime. I hope you love both the story and the music!"
KASUKA
added, "We are honored to be involved in this production. We strive to
reflect the tension, speed and conflict of the characters. Enjoy it as much as
the anime and the novel!"
Confirmed
cast and new additions
Along with
the already announced Takeo Otsuka as Akira Oda and Saku
Mizuno as Amelia Rosequartz, three new talents are added
to the cast:
- Sanae Kobayashi (Allen Walker in D.Gray-man)
will voice Yoru, a demon of the "black cat" breed
who usually takes the form of a feline.
- Konomi Tamura (Isaki in Insomniacs
after School) will play Lia Lagoon, an enigmatic young
woman who knows the secrets of interdimensional travel.
- Junichi Suwabe (Atobe in Prince
of Tennis) will play Saran Mithray, the commander of the
Knights of the Retice Kingdom, and one of the few people Akira trusts.
Kobayashi
highlighted her enthusiasm for the otherworldly aesthetic and the bond between
her character and the feline form: "I'm excited to bring Yoru to life and
connect with her cat appearance!"
For her
part, Tamura commented, "Lia is a girl with a straightforward sense of
justice. I hope they continue their evolution in this story." Suwabe
closed with humor: "Saran is handsome and strong, what role will he play
in this story? Find out in the anime!"
Production details and project origin
The
direction will be in charge of Nobuyoshi Habara (Fafner),
with series composition by Kunihiko Okada (Yowamushi Pedal),
character design by Hirona Okada (Gundam Build Metaverse)
and music by Satoshi Igarashi (TOKYO LOGIC). The
production is by the renowned Sunrise studio.
The
original work was published on the Shousetsuka ni Narou platform
since January 2017 and its printed version under the Overlap
Bunko label began in November of the same year, accumulating four
volumes to date. The manga, illustrated by Hiroyuki Aigamo,
has been published since July 2018 and already has six
volumes. Collectively, the franchise has surpassed 1.5 million
copies in circulation.
